Puppies Vs. Human Babies

When people plan on bringing a puppy into their family they are told that generally the puppy can be separated from its mother at eight weeks. Below are some of the reasons you will find when doing your research as to why it is vital that they are with their mothers for that period of time…
- They may not become properly socialized.
- They may develop behavioral problems. (Overly aggressive, meek, or rambunctious)
- They may become more destructive.
- They may bark excessively.
- They may become more difficult to train.
- They might have high reactivity to noises.
- They may become overly possessive around their food and toys.
- They may become ill or experience nutritional deficiencies.
- They might have anxiety problems.
- They might have attachment related problems.
I know there are certain situations where this time period can not be met, but why would this time frame be any different for human babies?

This is amazing. It's something that might get through to some people about our experience as adoptees. Thank you for publishing this blog <3
Thanks for sharing this Sara. I've thought about this many times, but to see the research re puppies not being removed from their moms too early and the similar symptoms of adoption trauma. It's maddening the lack of acknowledgement/awareness around the primal wound and preverbal trauma in infants and the effects over a lifetime.
